Freaking ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ DVD giveaway!!

TWO SEASONS WORTH, BITCHES. (that’s as many as 56 episodes!)

Bought from Amazon last year. The first disc is the only one that touched my DVD player. This is quality shit, people.

So if you’re gearing up for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ or just wanting to power-walk down memory lane, I’ve got your ticket right here.

But How Do I Win It?

Reblog this and get your face in those notes so I can see you. But don’t spam me or Batman will gas you. And then I will draw a dick on your face.

You don’t have to be following me. Come one, come all.

Yes, I will ship internationally!

I’ll draw a winner at random on Saturday 11th February (Australian time, so Friday 10th for most of you) and message them, and I’ll also put a post on my blog.

Til then…go nuts if this is your thing! Take advantage of my impulse shopper instincts!

You’re my hero.

Video Game Cover Bands

If you didn’t see the video I just posted, here’s a link:

http://youtu.be/GnQ7bDGhOLI

It’s a 45 minute playthrough of Mega Man 2 on stage at MAG Fest with the Bit Brigade playing the soundtrack live accompanying the gameplay. It’s amazing. It’s the best thing I’ve seen so far in 2012.

I just discovered the Bit Brigade today through that video. I kind of dig them. My main exposure to video game cover bands have been The Minibosses, which I love with a passion. The Minibosses cover video game soundtracks but relatively loosely. They groove on the original songs and make them their own. Consequently their best pieces are their live recordings. In the studio they tend to play much more closely to the original track. I don’t like that kind of video game cover as if you’re simply playing the original song but on instruments, what’s the point? That was my problem with The Advantage. They’re another video game cover band I discovered way back when but very, very technical. They play essentially the exact original song but on instruments. Bit Brigade is somewhere in between The Advantage and The Minibosses, and I can tolerate their closeness to the original music.

Two other bands I want to mention: Neskvartetten does jazzy video game covers, mainly of Nintendo songs. I love their interpretations. If you get a chance, check out their “Sahasralah’s Homecoming” cover. I also found a band called Year 200X on Spotify that covers video game songs with more of a metal style. Interesting and I’ll be listening to them more.

If you have any suggestions for video game cover bands, I’d love to hear them!

I would love to see her make a comeback.

Twitter, Facebook, and Google endorse alternate online piracy bill

themisse:

newsweek:

reuters:

Gautham Nagesh for The Hill - Eight of the largest Web companies have endorsed an online piracy bill offered by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) as an alternative to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and its Senate counterpart PROTECT IP.

The OPEN Act would direct online patent infringement claims against foreign websites to the International Trade Commission, which would be authorized to order online ad networks and payment processors to sever ties with the rogue foreign sites.

“The OPEN Act has attracted strong support from Silicon Valley, but criticism from the entertainment industry, which claims it wouldn’t effectively prevent piracy.”

Newsweek has a great tumblr - just sayin.

Mallory demonstrates a wide and colorful use of vocabulary.

Roles like this make me so excited to see Kristen Stewart shake off the mantle of Twilight and become a fascinating actress who does interesting films full-time.
